Asha Worker from Odisha Attacked and Beaten up by Villagers in Puri

 

Health workers from across the country were facing the brunt of the population as soon as the COVID-19 lockdown started. Harassment and violence against health workers continue to this day as people in the interiors of India remain unaware about Coronavirus.

Nirmala Dakua, an ASHA worker from Odisha's Puri district was surrounded and beaten up by villagers numbering more than 500. She had gone to the Penthakata village after receiving information that there are COVID-19 positive patients who need to undergo treatment.
